VITAMIN B12

When we don’t get enough of a critical vitamin such as vitamin B12, our health, energy, and memory may suffer. Because B12 is primarily found in animal-based products, vegetarians and vegans are particularly susceptible to B12 deficiencies. If you have diabetes, a thyroid disorder, take antacids, or smoke or drink too much, you may also be at risk of a B12 deficiency.

Vitamin B12 shots are the most common way to correct – or prevent – a B12 deficiency.

Benefits of B12 Vitamin Injections

Vitamin B12 is essential to proper functioning of nerve and blood cells in the body. When you don’t have enough B12, you may feel weak, tired, dizzy, and confused. You may even have a tingling sensation in your hands or feet, jaundice (a yellowing of the skin and eyes), problems with your vision, or become easily depressed.

That’s why many Fortis Behavioral Health clients turn to monthly B12 injections.

B12 shots can work wonders, including:

  • Energy Boost – B12 injections can help prevent anemia (a lack of healthy red blood cells), which can make you feel tired and weak.
  • Immediate Results – Because the injection delivers vitamin B12 directly into your bloodstream, it bypasses the stomach and liver, which can delay nutrient absorption and reduce effectiveness of the vitamin in the body.
  • Reduced Risk of Health Problems – A vitamin B12 deficiency is associated with serious health complications such as heart disease, vision loss, infertility, and neuropathy. You can reduce your risk by ensuring you have adequate levels of B12.

The injection is quick, and any soreness will wear off over the next 24 hours.
